Vilcabamba,
a mystery zone and a legend to the historians, exploiters
and the adventurers from all over the world with its
beautiful nature dominated by the snow draped peak of
Salkantay. Its our gate to access a spectacular tour which
later will bring us across a variety of ecosystems, and
visit archaeological spots among our trail.
First day : Cusco – Mollepata –
Cruz Pata
We will pick you up at your hotel with bus. It will take us
to the village of Mollepata (2.800 m.a.s.l.) situated three
hours away from Cusco. Passing through the villages of
Izcuchaca, Zurite and Limatambo. It will take us to our
starting point of our long walk which is the square in
Mollepata. We will cross this typical Andean village and its
farmed land where we can observe the inhabitants in their
agricultural fauna. Continuing against the sector of
Markokasa (3.340 m.a.s.l.) arriving at a place called Cruz
Pata. Where we will set up our camp.
Meals : Snack, lunch, teatime and dinner.
Second day : Cruz Pata – Soraypampa
After our breakfast, we will ascend with pauses in a steep
terrain which will lead us to the pass of Markokasa (3.650
m.a.s.l.). Continuing along the beautiful landscape until we
get to the viewpoint of the snow draped Humantay (2.917
m.a.s.l.)
We will keep on until we reach the big field known as Soray
Pampa (3.900 m.a.s.l.) where we will have a excellent view
over the landscape and the snow draped peaks of Vilcabamba.
Continuing until we get to the foot of Salkantay, where we
will set up our camp. (3.920 m.a.s.l.)
Meals : Breakfast, snack, lunch, teatime and dinner.
Third day : Soraypampa –
Huaracmachay
We will enjoy our breakfast very early and start walking
while observing exceptional sights over the snow draped
Salkantay. (6.271 m.a.s.l.) while ascending against the pass
called Huaracmachay (5.215 m.a.s.l.) We will set up our camp
where the majestic snow layer begins.
Meals : Breakfast, snack, lunch, teatime and dinner.
Fourth day : Huaracmachay –
Colcapampa
After our breakfast we will begin walking and observe the
mountainous landscape, mixed with fauna from the jungle. In
the route we will observe medicine water which contain
carbohydrates. We will camp at the doorstep to the jungle at
a place called Colcapampa.
Meals : Breakfast, snack, lunch, teatime and dinner.
Fifth day : Colcapampa - Beach
In the morning after breakfast we will begin walking in all
the botanic thickness beside the jungle. Walking along a
huge variety of typical villages until we arrive at our
camping spot.
Meals : Breakfast, snack, lunch, teatime and dinner.
Sixth day : Beach – Hydro
electrical plant
Very early we will start walking and observe the coffee
plantations which exist all over this area until we arrive
at a crossing path where we will be able to take a shortcut
to the Santa Teresa village, which was destroyed by the
flooding in 1988, this way we will arrive and visit this
place.
Meals : Breakfast, snack, lunch, teatime and dinner.
Seventh day : Hydro electrical
plant – Aguas Calientes
After the breakfast we are going to walk against Aguas
Calientes, which will be the end of our trail. After we have
visited the warm springs we will seek shelter in a modest
accommodation.
Meals : Breakfast, snack, lunch, teatime and a departure
dinner.
Eight day : Aguas Calientes – Machu
Picchu – Cusco
This day we will be able to visit the historical Sanctuary
of Machu Picchu in company of our guide. In the afternoon we
will take the train back to Cusco.
Meals : Brakfast, snack and lunch.
