Gereurd Roberts tackled the
Inca Trail with Oasis Overland
The magnificence of the Inca Trail has made it a
major attraction. TNT Magazine's Gereurd Roberts looks at
what you should know before hitting the trail.
Peru's Inca Trail is one of those things: you've either done
it or you're planning to do it. Physical exertion is only
part of the, erm, fun on the gruelling four-day hike to the
legendary ruins of Machu Picchu - the archaeological sites
along the way and the ancient stone trail itself showcase
the Incas' knack for building in harmony with the
spectacular natural surroundings.
So you don't need convincing about why you should do it -
but what do you need to know before you go? In his 12 years
as a tour leader, Diego Choque Garcia has trekked the Inca
Trail more than 700 times, helping thousands of travellers
complete an unforgettable experience. Here are his tips for
making the Inca Trail pilgrimage to Machu Picchu as
enjoyable as possible.
* The Inca Trail isn´t easy. It goes for more than 40km, up
and down mountains; it isn't a walk in the park, so a decent
level of fitness is required. In may ways, this makes the
trail even better, as the sense of achievement when you
reach Machu Picchu is incredible.

I have recently traveled to Peru with my girlfriend and
found the experience to be very wonderful. We stumbled
across a Peruvian owned tour agencey,Peruvian Sacred and
Adventure, by accident but will never use another agency
again when we return. We did the 4 day Inca Trail tour and
was very rewarding. Not only was the tour very reasonablly
priced, it provided, by far, the best services. I can't say
enough about how great and smooth everything ran thanks to
the our agency and tour guide, Diego Choque Garcia. He was
very informative, helpful, and passionate about his job. He
not only told us about the Inca culture, ruins and trail
history, he continued to teach us things about the land,
climate, and natural plants and animals within the National
Park. From what we saw, he went beyond what other tour
guides were doing. Most tour guides gave information for the
Inca ruins only. In addition to the great tour, the porters
and cooks did a fantastic job, too. I backpack around the
states and never ate food like this. Breakfast, lunch, and
dinner was all freshly prepared, cooked food. We had fried
trout, roasted chicken, Santa Fe Beef, Quinoa Soups and
breakfast cereal. We had yucca, onions, maize, and potatoes.
It was delicious and amazing to watch prepare. The porters
bust their asses carrying all of the equipment and did the
best job of all. I can't say enough about this tour and
guide. Please travel responsibly by seeking out locally
owned agencies. This agency is wonderful. If you want to get
more information you can email Diego at: diegohappy@hotmail.com
or locate the agency at:

parte gracias a tu ayuda.
fotos y nuestros amigos menos.
No imorta

encontrar.
Un fuerte abrazo.
