Ollantaytambo is a town and an Inca archaeological site in southern Peru some 60 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco. It is located at an altitude of 2,792 meters (9,160 feet) above sea level in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco region. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti who conquered the region built the town and a ceremonial center.
Llama Trek Perú 3 Days/2 Nights:
Very early our guide will pick you up at your hotel to take us to our destination, after an hour and a half we will arrive at the Ollantaytambo village where we are stopping to take a walk through the village. Visiting the houses of the inhabitants and continuing our journey with bus along a footpath passing typical populated places, and observing the inhabitants doing their daily routine. As we arrive at the Huilloc village we will take a break to have lunch and visit the typical handcraft market in this village. Later we will continue until we arrive at our final destination which is called Patacancha, after we have crossed the Patacancha river and walked approximately 10 min. we will encounter our camping site.
After we have been hit by the first ray of light in this place and been impressed by the stunning nature we will start walking, but first we will get to know our lama Shepard’s which will be in company of their lamas, this way we will see how they carry. Starting our ascent and observing the inhabitants doing their daily needs around their typical houses for this area, in a impressive landscape. We will arrive at Labra de toro (Bull’s work) (4.000 m.a.s.l.) while descending we will observe the Toro Concha lagoon where we will see the very famous ducks of this zone (Huallata). As we continue our trek we will arrive at our final point called Tastayoc (3.850 m.a.s.l.) Here will our camping site be situated.
As we start walking early we will observe the snow draped peak of Verónica, and the other peak of this zone which is called Chuctaranta, continuing our journey through the marvellous landscape until we arrive at the archaeological group Peñas Colcas where our guide will give us a history lesson. A 10 min. walk from there our bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
