    Salkantay and Inca Trail 7 Days

    Trekking from Salkantay and enjoy of Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is one of the most valuable experiences to experience.

    Make the most of your trip to Machu Picchu! It knows the snowy Salkantay, the highest peak of the mountain range of Vilcabamba to 6,271 masl. Located to the Northwest of Cusco. Salkantay is the greatest mountain in its splendid isolation and its meaning is ‘wild mountain’, which could refer to the hectic clouds that rise from the lowlands of the forest and take the summit.

    Be part of this adventure of 7 days, one of the favorites of the hikers for being a rustic and natural way. It will be 4 days of direct contact with the Andes wrapped in a splendid environment without the presence of tourists. The Inca trail awaits us on the fifth day in the village of Wayllabamba to continue to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu.

    Raise your experience on this route to the Inca Trail, we can use horses to assist us the first four days of travel for transporting food and luggage. Then we will have a team that will help us to reach Machu Picchu.

    1. Day 1 Cusco - Mollepata - Markokasa

      Discovering the Inca world requires getting up very early. We will meet at your hotel to go by bus to our starting point, Mollepata Square (2,800 masl). On the way we will visit the attractive cities of the Pampa de Anta (Izcuchaca, Zurite, Ancahuasi and the Limatambo valley). We will know the hospitality of the Andean man in his daily life when passing through this typical village and then arrive until Markokasa (3,340 masl) where he will be waiting for our camp.

      Food: Snack, Lunch, tea time and Dinner.

    2. Day 2 Markokasa - Soraypampa - Salkantay Pampa

      We will have the opportunity to capture a wonderful view of the south face of the Sierra de Salkantay (at 20,600 feet / 6,247 masl) from our camp.

      Our day starts unhurriedly on a trek up the steep terrain that leads us to the Markokasa Pass (at 3,650 masl). We will find the wealth of Peru in every corner, we will feel the changes of climate and we will know the small towns, we will be in contact with plants, small wild birds and wonderful views of the snow to 5,902 masl in Humantay and the landscape of Vilcabamba.

      We will not stop until we reach our camp where the impressive view of the majestic mountain of Salkantay awaits us.

      Meals: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, tea time and Dinner.

    3. Day 3 Inca Chiriasca - Sisay Pampa

      It’s a new day to resume our adventure! Breakfast will be ready to take a gradual ascent to the Inca Chiriasca pass, the highest point of the expedition (4,950 m.s././16,236 ft) from where you have magnificent views of the icy lakes Salkantay and Humantay Summit Mountain. It is time to descend towards Sisay Pampa, an area from which the adjacent valleys of Salkantay can be seen (if luck goes with us, we can see condors in flight) at 4,210 masl., where the camp is waiting for us.

      Meals: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, tea time and Dinner.

    4. Day 4 Canal Inca - Paucarcancha - Llactapata

      The breakfast waits to enroute in the direction of Pampacahua (3,840 masl) there we will witness the original Inca engineering and architecture and we will be able to appreciate the Andean landscape with typical houses of the region. Connect with the Andes and take minutes to observe the ancestral legacy of the Incas. The road invites us to continue descending until we reach the Cusicacha Valley and visit the archaeological site of Paucarcancha (10,332 feet), located very close to the Urubamba River. There we can camp around the site.

      Meals: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, tea time and Dinner.

    5. Day 5 Paucarcancha - Huayllabamba - Pacaymayo

      We are getting closer to a different experience. After breakfast we will descend to the district of Huayllabamba, where we will take the route to the classic Inca Trail.

      Nature will be the protagonist in heading towards our destination crossing the Queuña tree forest, a typical tree of the area.

      We will continue walking until we reach the passage of Warmiwañusca (13,776 feet), from where you can see the glorious view of the road in front of the mountain.

      We will not stop until arriving at Pacamayo (3,500 masl / 11,480ft). Where we will camp to enjoy tea time and dinner.

      Meals: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, tea time and Dinner.

    6. Day 6 Sayacmarca - Phuyupatamarca - WiñayHuayna

      Today we go in the direction of Pampacahua (3,840 masl) we will be in direct contact with the world that the Incas left us, we will know the original stone canals and we will enjoy the typical landscape of the serranías of Peru.

      We continue descending towards the Cusicancha Valley to visit the archaeological site of Paucarcancha (10,332 feet), located near the Urubamba river that crosses the sacred valley.

      Today we will camp in the surroundings.

      Meals: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, tea time and Dinner.

    7. Day 7 WiñayHuayna - Inti Punku - Machu Picchu - Cusco

      The day to know Machu Picchu has arrived! Very early in the morning we will visit the archaeological site of Wiñay Huayna and we will start the path towards the incredible view of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu (2,475 masl).

      We will queue to register our entrance and we will enter in the cloud forest towards the glorious door of the sun or Inti Punku where we will enjoy a guided tour by the different sectors of this magnificent Inca legacy.

      Our return will be in the afternoon, by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes. Here we will take the train that will take us back to Cusco and enjoy our last trip. Once in Cusco, comfortable buses will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
